Taormina - A Gem in Sicily

Taormina is the cutest little town in Sicily, and it sure has a lot to offer. There is a number of churches and palaces, a greek theater, and most important - the Canolli concentration is high here.

Walking through the old city of Taormina, you can constantly see (and buy) local arts and crafts. The Trinacria - a girl's head, framed by snakes and three legs - can be found in many places, and is being offered as a souvenir of all kinds.

If you don't mind hiking for a while, I can recommend crossing the main road on the upper side of the old city, and taking the path up to an old fortress, Castello Taormina. The vegetation on the way is impressive (hello giant cacti!) and the view over Taormina and the sea is fantastic.
