One Night in Tokyo
Tokyo at nighttime was one of my favorite suprises. The distinct features of every single place visited made me love the city even more. I am by no means a nightlife expert, quite the opposite actually, since I much more enjoy roaming around during daytime and getting all the sun in that any place has to offer. Tokyo (and my dear friends) convinced me to try out as many tiny bars, punk show basements and techno clubs as I possibly could take during a couple of days.
The night starts with appetizers and drinks at one of the many food stalls. All of them have bar seats, since it is impolite to eat while walking. Yakitori (sate-like bbq skewers) are great to try out, since they are just a bite and options are endless. There is a huge choice for meat eaters (duck feed anyone?), and also as a vegetarian you won't leave hungry. We made sure to order sochu-drinks, which is the local liquor, that is incredibly cheap and also comes mixed with all kinds of yummy flavors (matcha to mention my favorite). It tastes like lemonade, so no need to guess who ende up being drunk before dinner even started? Yep, that would be me.
